In 1727, coffee arrived in Brazil where it began to be cultivated on increasingly large areas, soon becoming one of the main economic resources of the country.
After the 1700s, coffee reaches the Americas thanks to a French infantry captain who brought a small plant with him on his long journey across the Atlantic. In 1773, coffee is proclaimed the national drink in the United States of America, becoming the favorite breakfast drink.
In 1822, in France, the first espresso machine is built.
It was founded by Grigore Capșa in 1891, the famous Capșa cafe, which became the cultural and political space of Bucharest society.
Hills Bros., an American company based in San Francisco, begins vacuum bagging roasted and ground coffee in 1900, to the detriment of coffee roasting and grinding shops.
The first soluble coffee was obtained by David Strang in New Zealand in 1890 and two years later by the Japanese chemist Satori Kato.
In Italy Luigi Bezzera invents the espresso machine in 1901, which is perfected by Achilles Gaggia in 1946, thus obtaining the first Cappuccino, named after the resemblance of the black and white colors to the robes of the Capuchin monks.
